Academic Life

Develop your knowledge to succeed

During your time at Bideford College Sixth Form you will follow a comprehensive study programme that offers you a broad understanding of your chosen subjects.

The study programme will contain the following five elements:

- Academic or vocational qualifications

- Work experience or voluntary work

- Tutorial support and enrichment

- Private study

- GCSE Maths and English language if a student hasn't already achieved a grade 4 or above.

All students who are studying in the Sixth Form will be given a minimum target grade that they are expected to meet and ideally exceed. We expect our students to be aspirational, and we will monitor and support them to achieve these targets.

During your time in the Sixth Form, you will stay with your designated tutor for the two years. Tutors will help and support you with your workload as well as help oversee applications for higher education and employment.
